Brandon Sanderson is an American fantasy author known for prolific output and intricately designed magic systems, with novels that have collectively sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. Raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, Sanderson now lives in Utah, where he teaches creative writing at Brigham Young University. He gained wide recognition after Robert Jordan's estate selected him to complete The Wheel of Time series following Jordan's death, a project he finished across three additional novels while continuing his own major series, including Mistborn and The Stormlight Archive, part of his interconnected Cosmere universe. Sanderson won the Hugo Award for his novella The Emperor's Soul, and in 2022 ran one of the largest crowdfunding campaigns in history, raising over $40 million on Kickstarter for a set of surprise novels written during a period he had kept private from readers.
