Cal Newport is a professor of computer science at Georgetown University, where he is also a founding faculty member of the Center for Digital Ethics. Newport holds a PhD in computer science from MIT and is the New York Times bestselling author of eight books, including Deep Work, Digital Minimalism, A World Without Email, and Slow Productivity, which have collectively sold more than three million copies. He coined the term "deep work" to describe focused, distraction-free professional activity, and has since become one of the most prominent voices writing about attention, technology, and meaningful work in the digital age. Alongside his books, Newport is a contributing writer for The New Yorker and hosts the Deep Questions podcast, and has written the Study Hacks blog since 2007.
