NOS4A2
Here is my verdict up front, because it will save you some time: if you are on the fence …
Joe Hill (born Joseph Hillström King on June 4, 1972) is an American author of horror and suspense fiction, and the son of Stephen King and Tabitha King. He deliberately withheld his family connection early in his career, publishing under a shortened version of his middle name specifically so that any success he found would be judged on his own writing rather than his lineage — a fact that did not become widely known until 2007, after he had already built an independent readership. Hill's debut novel, Heart-Shaped Box (2007), won the Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel, and he followed it with Horns (2010) and NOS4A2 (2013), a sprawling supernatural thriller about a predator who lures children into a nightmare realm called Christmasland, which became a #1 New York Times bestseller and was later adapted into an AMC television series. He is also the Eisner Award-winning writer of the Locke & Key comic book series, later adapted for Netflix. Hill's prose is frequently noted for combining his father's instinct for dread with a sharper, more contemporary sense of structure, and his short story collections 20th Century Ghosts and Full Throttle have been widely praised. He lives in New England.
