The Fault in Our Stars

John Green (born August 24, 1977, in Indianapolis, Indiana) is an American author and YouTube creator known for young adult fiction that pairs philosophical and existential themes with sharply observed teenage voice. His 2012 novel The Fault in Our Stars, about two teenagers who meet at a cancer support group, became a #1 New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller and was adapted into a 2014 film. Green worked briefly as a student chaplain at a children's hospital before writing fiction, an experience he has cited as directly shaping the novel's unusually clear-eyed, unsentimental handling of terminal illness in young people. He co-created the VlogBrothers YouTube channel with his brother Hank Green in 2007, building a large online following well before The Fault in Our Stars became a cultural phenomenon, and the two have continued to build educational and community projects online alongside Green's fiction writing, including Crash Course and the nonprofit organization DFTBA. His other novels include Looking for Alaska, his 2005 debut which won the Michael L. Printz Award, and Turtles All the Way Down.
