Thea Harrison is the pen name of an American author who previously published sixteen romance novels under the name Amanda Carpenter, beginning at age nineteen. Writing as Thea Harrison, she is best known for the Elder Races series, a paranormal romance series beginning with Dragon Bound in 2011, about a half-human, half-Wyr woman who is caught stealing from the hoard of Dragos Cuelebre, the most powerful dragon shapeshifter among the Elder Races, and finds herself claimed by him instead of punished. Harrison holds graduate degrees in philanthropic studies and library and information science, and has said her academic background in mythology and world religions fed directly into the layered supernatural hierarchies of the Elder Races world. She has continued the series across numerous sequels and companion novels and also writes as Amanda Carpenter and under other names, building a substantial catalog across paranormal romance subgenres.
