Wil Wheaton is an American actor and audiobook narrator, known on screen for playing Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation and for his recurring role as a fictionalized version of himself on The Big Bang Theory. Wheaton has built a substantial parallel career as an audiobook narrator with a particular following among science-fiction and geek-culture listeners, recording titles including Ernest Cline's Ready Player One, whose 1980s pop-culture references and gaming-community setting closely overlap with Wheaton's own public persona, and John Scalzi's Redshirts and Lock In. His narration of Ready Player One in particular is frequently cited by fans as ideal casting, given his own roots in the pop-culture era the novel celebrates.
