Robert T. Kiyosaki (born April 8, 1947, in Hilo, Hawaii) is an American businessman, investor, and author best known for Rich Dad Poor Dad, a personal finance book that has remained a top-selling title in its category for over 25 years since its 1997 publication. Kiyosaki has said the book's framework, contrasting the financial philosophies of his own father and his best friend's father, draws on lessons about assets, liabilities, and financial education that he argues traditional schooling fails to teach. He founded Cashflow Technologies, which operates the Rich Dad and Cashflow brands, and created the Cashflow board game to teach investing concepts. He has written numerous follow-up titles on real estate, entrepreneurship, and financial independence, and remains an active speaker and commentator on personal finance.
