Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Two narrators exist for the Harry Potter series in English, and the Jim Dale editions are…
Jim Dale is a British actor and narrator best known in the audiobook world for his US recordings of the Harry Potter series, a body of work that earned him a Grammy Award and a Guinness World Record for voicing more distinct characters in a single audiobook series than any other narrator, over 130 by the final volume. A veteran of British stage and film comedy going back to the Carry On films of the 1960s, Dale brought a theatrical, highly differentiated vocal approach to the Harry Potter recordings that became, for a generation of American listeners, inseparable from the books themselves. His performances are frequently held up as a case study in what a narrator can add to a text, transforming character voices into something closer to a one-man radio drama.
