Six of Crows

About this audiobook

Kaz Brekker is offered a heist that could make him unimaginably rich and functionally impossible to pull off, and assembles a crew of six outcasts, a convict, a sharpshooter, a runaway, a spy, a Heartrender, and a thief, to attempt it anyway. Leigh Bardugo sets Six of Crows in the same Grishaverse as her Shadow and Bone trilogy, but the book stands entirely on its own, no prior familiarity required.

Seven narrators split the ensemble cast, led by Jay Snyder as Kaz alongside Brandon Rubin, Fred Berman, Lauren Fortgang, Roger Clark, Elizabeth Evans, and Tristan Morris, and listener reaction to the full-cast format is consistently enthusiastic, one review specifically called it refreshing to hear a book with this many distinct narrators, each doing genuinely good work rather than blurring together. The structure, alternating between five main characters' perspectives through flashback and present-day chapters, plays directly to a multi-narrator recording's strengths.

Story: 4.6. Narration: 4.5. One caveat worth knowing: this is the first half of a duology, and the ending sets up Crooked Kingdom directly rather than resolving on its own.
